Justin Piers Bateman (born 1976) is a British Land Artist, and Lecturer. Bateman is best known for his works – Stona Lisa, Girl with The Pebble Earring, Pebble Picasso, Refugee, Stray, and Lady from Lombok. Bateman specializes in creating site-specific artwork that is ephemeral.

Each portrait takes between 2 – 20 Days. The length of time varies depending on many variables; weather, stones, location, complexity. The work also varies in scale, from 1m² to 6m² (Portrait of the Queen). Upon completion, the stones are returned to their natural state in the environment. I leave nature as I find it 🌿 🐾 🕊️
